Literacy

Language

Did you know children develop a whole bunch of communication skills before they say their first words?
If you are still waiting to hear your little one babble away, we can work together to give YOU the tools to get your little one talking!

About 44 sounds make up all English words, but it can be tricky to get them all spot on. Some children need a bit of help to understand how and when to use their sounds so they can be understood in conversation and speak with confidence.

Language refers to the words we use and how we make and understand sentences. Strong language skills support good conversations, academic learning, and lifelong social wellbeing.

Literacy refers to the skills needed to read, write, and spell, and it is an essential life skill. Written language is everywhere!
Getting support for literacy early is a game changer for lifelong learning and independence.

Alternative and Augmentative Communication

No words does not mean nothing to say! AAC devices and systems help all sorts of people to communicate their messages, including people who are non-speaking, minimally-speaking, or who benefit from having visuals to support their speaking and understanding.
Finding the right AAC system for each person is key to helping them access their human right to communication.

Social Communication Skills

Social relationships that make us feel good are so important to our wellbeing. There are so many ways to socialise, and no single one is the "right way". Developing social skills goes hand in hand with understanding ourselves and others and how we all like to connect and communicate.

Functional Communication Life Skills

Lifelong communication disabilities are common, but that doesn't mean you need to be in therapy lifelong too!

If you are a young adult (or support someone who is) with a goal to develop skills for life after high school, the workplace or general independence, lets make those things easier so you can get where you want to go!
